Together with the restaurant De Zwarte Olifant and whiskey brand Stad&Vat, our assignment was to create a new personalised whiskey cocktail. In addition to the packaging design, we also created a poster and website.
Stad & Vat wants an honest, minimalist, sleek and robust appearance, but still something out of the box. The personalised whiskey cocktail will be exclusively available in De Zwarte Olifant. The design has to reflect exclusivity and quality.
CHALLENGE
Consumers often associate whiskey with a strong and heavy taste, I want to show that this whiskey cocktail produces a more light and fruity taste. The main challenge is to represent two different brand values in one design.

Stad & Vat is currently unique in the market because there are no other companies in the Netherlands that ages whiskey cocktails in a barrel. They ripen it in a special way by burning the oak barrel inside, which gives the whiskey extra flavour. They also add herbs for a special cocktail flavour. The whiskey cocktails age for 2 months in the barrel. The delicious cocktails are pre-mixed and ready to go in a sturdy bottle that you can pour into a glass. People often associate whiskey with a strong and heavy taste, by mixing two types it produces a light and fruity taste with more depth. The mixed cocktails from Stad & Vat are a stepping stone for consumers who previously did not dare to try whiskey.
The target audience that I proposed is "Alcohol-loving hipsters from the
local area of Hoorn who like to drink a whiskey cocktail." The general consumers who come to De Zwarte Olifant and would like to drink the whiskey cocktail from Stad & Vat are "Hipsters" who would like to relax and have a drink in a local restaurant. There are many different forms of the "Hipster", but the constant search for authenticity is the most important. That is why the specialised whiskey cocktail is very entangled for this target audience.
